Lloyd W. Gathings

Mr. Gathings attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and received a bachelor’s degree in 1973.  He then pursued his legal education at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, and he served as an Editor of the Cumberland Law Review before being awarded his Juris Doctor summa cum laude in 1976. Mr. Gathings is frequently asked to speak at Continuing Legal Education Seminars for lawyers, and is also asked to publish articles in legal publications.

Admitted to practice in Alabama and Florida, Mr. Gathings has also been admitted to practice before  many federal trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 5th, 6th, 7th and 11th Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Alabama.

Mr. Gathings has received an AV Preeminent peer-review rating through Martindale-Hubbel” and an “Excellent” peer review rating through Avvo.  He has been selected one of Birmingham Best Lawyers and one of Birmingham Business Magazine’s 2016 Top Lawyers. Mr. Gathings has been featured in Newsweek magazine, Fortune Magazine and on Sky Radio as one of America’s Premier Lawyers.
